Houston, TX – April 11, 2026 — The Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston (EGMH) welcomed 45 participants on April 11 for Nonviolence: An Eternal Power, a day-long workshop exploring nonviolence as both a personal practice and a force for social and environmental change.
Presented in partnership with the Metta Center for Nonviolence, the workshop was led by Michael Nagler, founder of the Metta Center, along with educator and facilitator Amery Kessler. Together, they guided participants through reflection, dialogue, and a shared viewing of The Third Harmony: Nonviolence and the New Story of Human Nature, examining how courage, compassion, and connection can serve as a constructive form of power.

The workshop invited participants to consider what it means to live a life rooted in nonviolence—within themselves, their communities, and the broader world. Discussions focused on transforming fear and anger into compassion and action, and on building a more just and connected society.
“This workshop created a meaningful shared experience for participants to reflect, engage, and connect around the practice of nonviolence,” said Katherine Demsky, Executive Director of the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston. “The work does not end here—what happens after, in how we apply these ideas in our daily lives and communities, is where the real impact begins.”
