On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston (EGMH) hosted a transformative Sound Meditation session led by Saumil Manek of Union is Creation. More than 50 attendees gathered in the museum’s peaceful auditorium for a journey into mindfulness and inner peace.

The session began with a thoughtful introduction by Liliana, who drew a powerful connection between Mahatma Gandhi and the principles of Yoga. She reflected on how Gandhi’s life and activism were deeply rooted in yogic philosophy – particularly the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, the practice of Satyagraha (truth-force), self-purification, and the daily discipline of meditation and mantra repetition.
Guided by Saumil, participants were immersed in a rich soundscape designed to soothe the mind and awaken inner clarity. The calming tones offered a unique opportunity to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with the self—bringing a sense of balance, stillness, and renewal.
Following the meditation, guests enjoyed a docent-led tour of EGMH, deepening their experience with a closer look at Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring legacy of nonviolence, peace, and mindful living. The tour complemented the meditative session beautifully, reinforcing the museum’s mission to inspire conscious living and compassionate action.
EGMH will now offer these Sound Meditation sessions monthly as part of its ongoing efforts to foster peace, mindfulness, and community well-being.
