T.T. and W.F. Chao Foundation and Sampson C. and Faye Shen Memorial
Gifts to Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it gives me immense joy to announce a gift of $250,000 from the T.T. and W.F. Chao Foundation and $250,000 from Sampson C. and Faye Shen Memorial Fund to the Capital Campaign for Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston (EGMH).

We are deeply grateful to Dr. Anne and Albert Chao for this generous and visionary gift. With this gift, EGMH has reached a significant milestone in raising $7.1 million of the $10 million required for the museum’s construction. The EGMH Board of Trustees, Advisory Board members, and volunteers express our sincere thanks to the Chao Family.

Dr. Sulekh Jain, a former trustee of EGMH, introduced us to Dr. Anne Chao in 2018. Dr. Chao has shown tremendous interest in this worthy project from the beginning. In the same year, Dr. Chao facilitated an interview of EGMH Co-Founder, Atul Kothari, by Houston Asian American Archive (HAAA). She and her husband, Albert, traveled to India in 2019 and personally visited the Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum in New Delhi, India. With this inspiration, she agreed to serve as the chairperson for EGMH Advisory Board and has put together an amazing team of top leaders from various industries.

Dr. Chao has been truly instrumental in bringing this new civic asset to our great, diverse city. We are grateful for her time and generosity.
