Your support in 2019 helped us to accomplish so much that all we could say was “Wow!”

2019 has been one of our best years ever. With your support, the Mahatma Gandhi Library and its initiative, the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston, has introduced and actively engaged hundreds of children, youth and adults across the greater Houston area, spreading the universal values of truth, non‐violence, love, service and peace.

Our annual events from the 5K Walk for Peace to the Mahatma Gandhi Week Contests to the 1000 Lights of Peace experienced record attendance and participation as diverse and expansive as our incredible city. Moreover, the celebration of Gandhi’s sesquicentennial year provided 12 months of compelling happenings that both honored Mahatma Gandhi and gathered people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities together to learn and practice our shared values.

Lastly, the Capital Campaign for the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston launched on September 23, 2019, was marked by the virtual groundbreaking with guest of honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. Other milestones include a pledge of $500,000 from the Houston Endowment in October, blessings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the steadfast and ongoing support from our project experts, RDLR Architects, award‐winning museum exhibit designers Solid Light, and renowned Museum Consultant Brian Crockett and Educational Consultant Ivana Situm. We also engaged capital campaign and communication strategy advisor Jackie Lyles of the Jackie Lyles Group to lead the capital campaign and communications strategy. We are just getting started!

As we expand our reach and cultivate new relationships, a name change is required to reflect our true purpose – the creation of a forever relevant gathering place where the universal values of truth, non‐violence, love, service, and peace are celebrated, nurtured and shared. From this point forward, our name is the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston.

None of this would have happened without your undying commitment. We are forever so grateful.
