Education Programs

Education is central to the mission of the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston. Our education programs use the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi to foster understanding of nonviolence, ethical leadership, and peaceful conflict resolution among learners of all ages.

Who we Serve
EGMH education programs are designed for a wide range of audiences, including:
Elementary, Middle, and High School Students
College and university classes
Educators and Lifelong Learners
Community and youth organizations
School Field Trips

School field trips provide students with an immersive, guided learning experience rooted in the museum’s exhibits. Field trips typically include docent-led tours, age-appropriate discussion, and connections to classroom learning.

Guided Learning Experiences

Educational visits may incorporate guided tours led by trained docents, use of the Digital Guide for enhanced interpretation, and facilitated discussions tied to exhibit themes.

Learning Through the Exhibits
Educational tours are grounded in the museum’s three-part exhibit journey:
HIS JOURNEY

Gandhi’s life, values, and moral development

OUR JOURNEY

Global leaders and movements inspired by nonviolence

MY JOURNEY
Personal responsibility, reflection, and choice
Programs Beyond the Classroom

In addition to school visits, EGMH offers educational opportunities through public lectures, community dialogues, and special commemorative programs.

Learning Through the Exhibits

The museum’s three-part exhibit journey—His Journey, Our Journey, and My Journey—forms the foundation of all educational programming, encouraging learners to connect history with personal responsibility.

Planning an Educational Visit

Educators planning a visit are encouraged to review Hours & Admission, Plan Your Visit, and Guided Tours pages. Advance scheduling helps ensure a meaningful experience.

Education as a Living Practice

Education at the Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston is an invitation to reflection, dialogue, and action—guided by the belief that understanding and compassion are essential foundations for a more just and peaceful world.
