Our museum will highlight the essence of Gandhi’s teachings and ways of life, from the design of the building to the visitor experience and the educational programming. Violence has been a problem that humankind has faced forever. As you enter the museum gallery, exhibits showing humanity’s challenge of tackling violence will greet the visitor. The display will depict the outcome of adopting Truth and Nonviolence compared to adopting violence.

The gallery introduces Mahatma Gandhi to the visitor as the person who demonstrated how to tackle violence with nonviolence – “A Force More Powerful.” Albert Einstein has said of Gandhiji, “Generations to come will scarce believe that a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.” Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy of nonviolent conflict resolution has forever changed the course of human destiny. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “If humanity is to progress, Gandhi is inescapable. He lived, thought, and acted inspired by the vision of humanity evolving toward a world of peace and harmony. We may ignore him at our own risk.”

The total budget for EGMH is $10 million, of which we have raised $7.3 million.
